Hand-painted Collages
My work starts in my garden. After the flowers have been watered and tended to, I harvest them to photograph and then enjoy in my home or gift to friends. These photographs become the inspiration for each individual piece in my painted collage. I am not a realistic painter. Instead, I prefer to paint them infused with the whimsy and joy that I see in each one. I often add insects or birds to bring life to each piece. If you look closely, you will often see bugs or tiny flowers in groups of three. That is a nod to the three little boys that I love so much; my grandsons.
After all of the pieces are painted, I assemble each collage with patience and care. I often reconsider the design several times until it is just right. Once finished, I once again photograph the entire piece and use that as the basis for my many products and designs. Bringing my garden to life through original art and beautiful home goods is a dream come true for me, and I can’t wait to share it with you.
